KSS: “Raising Our Spirit Event” Parade

A parade of support for students of Kahnawake Survival School is underway in the community with a caravan of 15 or so cars driven by KSS teachers winding their way from the school on the 132 down into the village area and around town. Jackie Leclaire is the Principal at KSS. She says they are calling it the “Raising Our Spirit Event”:

“We’re kind of concerned with kids with online learning and everything else and actually lots of kids not being able to come back into the school because of the Covid. So, we just want to more or less boost their mental wellness and everything else and just to say to staff and students, that the staff at KSS are thinking about them and we want to just go through town more or less to say hi and that you know we’re here for you guys and if you really need us just reach out to us even at the school give us a call, if (you) need to come in to talk about stuff (even if it) feels like even too soon that you still can’t have that conversation; and they’re worried about the mental wellness of the students.”
