Brooke Stacey Re-signs With The Beauts

Written by on 16 December 2020

Kahnawà:ke’s Brooke Stacey, who recently became a mother for the first time, has re-signed for a second season with the Buffalo Beauts of the National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL). An all-star last season before going on maternity leave, Stacey had 8 goals and 8 assists in 14 games. Nathaniel A. Oliver is the Buffalo Beauts General Manager:

“I feel very fortunate that were able to bring Brooke back for this season. Of course, she was with us this past season, 2019-2020 and she’s just a scoring machine out on the ice. She averaged better than a point per game on our team, in fact she had a consecutive point streak at the beginning of last season, of the 1st nine games of the season. So getting her back in the fold for this time around, it’s immediate offence that she brings and really bolsters our team in that regard in terms of putting numbers up on the scoresheet. You know, just a very talented hockey player all the way around and plays a complete game.”

As for the NWHL’s upcoming season, it will reflect the NHL’s approach:

“This season, for season 6 for the NWHL, we’ll be playing in a bubble in Lake Placid (N.Y.), similar to what the NHL and what other leagues have done doing a bubble season. So, to know that we’ve added Brooke in-time for the bubble and will be joining us there is just a huge, huge add for our team and what we’ll be able to do offensively.”

Stacey studied sociology at the University of Maine and has expressed an interest in working towards a career in criminal investigation with specific interest in the area of missing and murdered Indigenous women.
