Premier François Legault unveiling the new Quebec cabinet during a ceremony at the national assembly that started after 2pm today. After winning 90 of the legislature’s 125 seats in the October 3rd’s provincial election, Legault told reporters after his re-election that his new cabinet will be composed of between 40 and 60 per cent women. In a late announcement, Ian Lafrenière remains in his role as minister responsible for relations with First Nations and Inuit. The response from the community was swift. Ratitsénhaienhs Mike Delisle of the MCK says this was an expected decision:

“I would say, not really a surprise and we’ll hold comment on good news depending on how much progress we can make in the next 20 months or so. The expectation was that he would be renewed, I know he had an interest, so, you can call it pleasantly agreeable at this point and we’ll find out what we can do in the next 20 months.”

Christian Dubé stays on in the health portfolio that he previously held. The Transports Minister job comes back to Geneviève Guilbault, who also retains her Vice-Premiere role in the National Assembly. Eric Girard stays in as Finance Minster. Pierre Fitzgibbon economy minister. Christopher Skeete was named minister responsible for the fight against racism
