There are six active cases of COVID-19 as of Monday morning in Kahnawake. Lisa Westaway, the Executive Director of the Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre (KMHC), joined us live on the Morning D.
“We have many people in isolation as contacts of those positive cases. So we are waiting and that’s 14 days before we see if there are any symptoms that develop from contacts of positive cases. That’s what is alarming for us right now, is that we are seeing a significant amount of contacts of cases within the community. It means that people are feeling a little bit safer or are gathering a little bit more. That’s what it tells us. That’s where we have a little bit of a concern,” Westaway said.
