Two Staff at Elders Lodge Test Positive for COVID-19

The Kahnawake COVID-19 Task Force announced on New Year’s Eve Thursday that two staff members at the Turtle Bay Elders Lodge in the community have tested positive for the novel coronavirus. So far the virus has not spread to the residents, all of whom were immediately placed in isolation. The KMHC’s Local Public Health Team has completed contact tracing. They will continue to test residents and staff every five days.

COVID-19 has now affected three facilities in Kahnawake since the beginning of the pandemic in March, 2020. That includes the Kateri Memorial Hospital Center (KMHC), although it has not yet affected the in-patients and the Independent Living Center (ILS), where two staff members tested positive earlier this month.
