3 Locals Arrested After Vehicle Break Ins

Written by on 15 July 2020

A 21 year old local man and two minors from Kahnawake were arrested after six vehicles were broken into in Kahnawake over the last few days. Kyle Zachary is the public relations officer with the Kahnawake Peacekeepers. “Three of them were all on that side of the tunnel, the 132 side of the territory on the 12, 13th and 14th,” Zachary said.

The suspects were charged with theft, mischief and theft of credit cards. The adult was released with a promise to appear, the minors gained unconditional release.

One victim said her vehicle was broken into and she later found her purse and a baby knapsack on the road nearby. She said about $400 cash was stolen. People should be vigilant.

“Don’t keep any valuables in your vehicle,” Zachary warned. “If you have a wallet or a purse take it in your house with you. Lock your doors. If you have lighting that could make the area more visible it’s a good thing. Be vigilant. If you see something suspicious call the Peacekeepers.”
