Walker-Rice Retires From The KMHC

Written by on 24 September 2020

A special day for a special, known community figure: Leslie Walker-Rice. Today was Walker-Rice’s last day on the job at the Kateri Memorial Hospital Center as the Infection Prevention Control Nurse. It’s her retirement day and she was a guest on the Partyline Talkshow today. Wendy-Sky Delaronde retired from the KMHC earlier this year, now it’s Walker-Rice’s turn:

“Well interestingly enough, Juanita (Belanger) replaced Wendy and Juanita is also replacing me, so they were able to bridge both jobs very nicely and Juanita continues to be the School Health Nurse and she is replacing me on Infection Prevention Control.”

Juanita Belanger also joined in studio is indeed Walker-Rice’s replacement:

“It’s an honour, so being able to this being able to work in this community and being able to follow in the footsteps of two extra-ordinary nurses who have taught me more in the past couple of years than I can even begin to explain, I think I feel very honoured to be able to do this job in their place. It’s stressful, I won’t deny, but I’m very happy to have had the time with them.”

Walker-Rice admits she’s leaving in interesting time, but knows Belanger is fully capable:

“She’s a very intelligent woman and would never had been given the job if people did not think she more than capable in doing so, but of course I will provide support for her and will continue to provide support as needed.”

Leslie Walker-Rice punched out at 4PM this afternoon.
