Mohawks Lacrosse Season Cancelled Due to Pandemic

Written by on 2 June 2020

The Kahnawake Mohawks Senior B Lacrosse Club announced that their season has officially been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Although this wasn’t an easy decision, taking in to account the health and safety of our players, our fans and our community was paramount,” said Greg Horn the Mohawks General Manager. “We want to be playing lacrosse, but ultimately the health and safety of everyone in our community comes first.”

Kahnawake hosted the Senior B National Championship Presidents Cup in 2019.  The St Albert Miners were slated to be the hosts later this summer. Horn says he has been in touch with their committee. “With valuable time lost in an important part of the planning stages would have been very detrimental to any host,” Horn said. “For the CLA (Canadian Lacrosse Association) to cancel the National Championships and offer next years championships to this years host is probably the right thing to do.”
