Mercier Bridge: 138 Ramp Work Wrapping Up Ahead of Schedule

Written by on 23 July 2021

The Highway 138 up ramp in Kahnawake towards Montreal will be open well ahead of schedule, as early as Saturday night. The ramp was completely shut down for repaving and other maintenance work on Saturday July 17th at 10 pm. The work was scheduled to last until Thursday, July 29th at 10 pm. Sterling Deer is a co-owner and spokesperson for the Mohawk Bridge Consortium (MBC), the group which is performing the work.

“Approximately five days ahead of schedule we’re looking to wrap everything up Saturday night at around 8 PM. The ramp coming from Chateauguay, direction Montreal. We call it Ramp Four,” Deer said.

The work was extensive.

“We removed all the asphalt on the bridge itself. We scarified all the span. We did a lot of expansion joint repairs, the clamp bar, the rubber seals. Some Jersey barrier repairs, GTOG, the guardrail. We totally scarified and rebuilt the approach of that ramp from the bottom right to the bridge abutment and repaved it.”
