Groundbreaking Ceremony for Sesame Park Project

Written by on 10 July 2020

The ceremonial groundbreaking for the Sesame Park project will be held on Monday July 13th at 9am. The project features constructing the first ‘sensory’ playground in Kahnawake which will be therapeutic for children with special needs. Mackenzie Whyte is the general manager of recreation for the MCK and is the project organizer. She said the new park will feature “… many elements that are especially interesting and interactive and helpful for individuals on the spectrum or with other developmental delays”.

Other work that will be done at the park later this summer and fall include an 18-hole mini putt course, an outdoor table tennis court and a washroom. Whyte encourages those who attend the ceremony to respect public health measures. She said “…if you’re going to be in close proximity, we ask out of respect to any elders or anybody else coming…please have a mask on you. There will be hand sanitizer present if needed”.
