Over 1500 community members showed up on Saturday for a spooktacular afternoon as part of Trunk or Treat. The event returned to Kahnawake for the first time since before the pandemic. There were 25 trunks, food & snack trucks, and two movies were shown during the evening.
“Looking at the kids faces, they were so happy, excited,” Noreen Montour, the team leader at the family and wellness center who was one of the organizers of Trunk or Treat, told K1037 News. “It was great to see people visiting with each other and standing around talking or sitting around eating and families together. That was the whole point of the event, to try to bring people together. At one point I looked over at the playground and there were so many kids playing on the equipment and it was so fun to see that.”
They raised over $3000 for the Kateri Food Basket.
