Bay Restoration Seeding Areas: Avoid Them
Written by Paul Graif on 19 November 2021
Seeding is taking place on restored areas on the south side (mainland) of the bay as well as on the island as part of the Tekakwitha Island and Bay Restoration Project and The Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) is asking the community to try and avoid these zones. Newly seeded areas are very sensitive to disturbance and you are asked to avoid any activities within these locations including: walking, biking and ATV’ing as KEPO continues to progress towards completion of the project. Areas can be identified by the green color that is mixed in with the seeds to help them adhere to the soil with fencing having been installed along the bike path.
For more information, you can reach KEPO at: [email protected] or 450-635-0600.
