ILC: New Measures Now In Place

There was an unscheduled Kahnawà:ke COVID-19 Task Force briefing this afternoon. Task Force Member Arnold Lazare discussing the Task Force’s response to the latest community outbreak:

“It’s been made fully aware of the current situation at the independent Living Center, where two staff members have tested positive for the coronavirus. This is to inform the community that additional measures are being implemented immediately to ensure the health and safety of both the residents and staff during the outbreak.”

Lazare outlined the time-frame required for the isolation:

“All residents are now in isolation, the KMHC local public health team has completed contact tracing; the retraining of all staff and residents regarding infection prevention and control measures will be done; and enforcement of the public health directives within the ILC. All staff and residents will have been screened and will continue to be screened and screening of any person who has entered the ILC facility between November 21st and December 3rd.”

These Task Force measures being introduced on the heels of two staff members at the Independent Living Centre (ILC) in Kahnawà:ke having tested positive for the coronavirus.
