Kahnawà:ke Schools Back On

Written by on 21 September 2020

It was a staggered start today with Kahnawà:ke schools delicately re-opening their doors to the new school year. This is Jaime Dickson, Communications Officer at the Kahnawà:ke Education Center on today’s reopening of schools:

“Everything went very well. Our elementary schools began with nursery, kindergarten and 5, 6 today. KSSDN was grade 7’s and some grade 8’s. There were no major problems and we’re going to continue to monitor and share observances throughout the week. There might be changes to come but we will be informing the parents if changes do take place.”

Dickson saying, that all in all, it was a real good start:

“The students were very happy to return to school, so it was a good, positive atmosphere. Even with all the safety measures that we had put in place, it seemed to be, there was a sense of this calm. So it was nice atmosphere today.”
