5 new KFB Firefighters

Kahnawake officially has five new firefighters who are part of the KFB. Kwaronienhawi Jacobs, Konwatharani Jacobs, Summer Martin, Brandon Chuby and Heather McGregor this past weekend they were at the Justice Institute of British Columbia in Maple Ridge BC to complete Live Fire 1. They were all approved and passed the qualifications that took nearly 20 months to complete.

Wihse Stacey is the Assistant Fire Chief with the KFB:

“This was the last course of 6 that they had to complete in order to become ‘Firefighter 1’ certified. Live Fire 1 is the culmination of everything that they did over the last 5 courses. You’re going into a building, you’re going into actual fire, high-heat, you have to go upstairs into the fire, you have to go downstairs through the fire. You’re entering a building at 400-550 degrees already at the very top and you’re working your way through it. That’s one of the more dangerous parts of firefighting.”
