Recreation Bay Beach Closed

Recreation Bay Beach will be closed for health and safety reasons due to high levels of E. coli, according to a statement from The Public Safety Division of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke. They say that recent water sampling by Environmental Health Services (EHS) technicians of Kahnawake Shakotiia’takehnhas Community Services has revealed a rise in E. coli levels. Public Safety is community is being recommended to avoid the beach, that is now closed until those bacteria levels return to what is considered ‘acceptable for swimming and recreation.’ EHS technicians will continue testing, and the community will be kept updated on further developments.
