Heat Wave In The Region
Written by Jeremy Zafran on 17 June 2024
A heat wave is coming to the region with temperatures expected to reach as high as 35 C. As a result, The Waste Management Department will be completing all of their collections before 12 noon on each of the high heat days. There will be no afternoon collections. You are asked to have all recycling, special collection items and compost out by 7am sharp, ensuring that your bin is at least 3/4 full before placing it at the curb. During high-heat events, it’s recommended to drink plenty of water, even before you feel thirsty. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly, those with chronic underlying medical issues, and people working outdoors are at a higher risk. These conditions will persist into Thursday evening, according to a special weather statement by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).
