Interfering With Wildlife Can Be Detrimental

Addressing the hazards of interfering with local wildlife, namely disturbing or removal of baby animals, The Animal Control Department of the Public Safety Division  says that, although well-intentioned, taking a wild baby animal into your home might do more harm than good. In a midday press release, Animal Control says that it is common for baby birds, rabbits, raccoons, and squirrels, to be left unattended for extended periods as their parents’ forage for food. Resist the urge to “save” healthy babies as their parents are likely nearby. Animal Control’s primary responsibility is to ensure public safety and manage domestic animals, with the group’s capacity to handle wildlife remaining limited.
