Kia Grant for Connecting Horizons
Written by Jeremy Zafran on 11 June 2024
Connecting Horizons has received a $44k grant from Kia Car Company’s Communities in Motion Program for a pilot project that the organization is calling ‘Drive to Succeed.’ The project will help 12 special needs community members obtain their drivers license by attending the SAAQ requirement of one year of accredited driving courses. The grant will cover their probationary license, driving school fees, car rental and final exam contributions. The goal behind the initiative is to help special needs community members obtain their freedom and independence, leading to greater employment opportunities. Legally driving a car is another step towards inclusion within the community and in the general workforce. Applications will begin July 2nd, 2024.
