Upcoming Rte-132 and Rte-207 Traffic Study
Written by Jeremy Zafran on 29 May 2024
A traffic study for routes 132 and the 207 will be conducted by the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ). The study will be carried out in two (2) phases aimed at improving safety on the Territory. The first phase will focus on the 132 at the Kahnawà:ke Survival School intersection and it will take place during the week of June 3rd from 9am until 2pm and again from 7pm until 9pm. The second phase of the study will roll out on the week of July 1st and will focus on the 207. Monitoring equipment will be installed at several intersections along 207 to determine the placement of additional traffic signalization devices to improve safety. David Lahache is the Transport Coordinator at the MCK:
“The whole idea here is that we’re going to be working the Ministry of Transports of Québec to try and improve traffic and safety on both of those routes, the 207 especially. we’ve had a lot of issues, we’ve had a serious accident in the last few weeks. Even though we have signage up, we do have a double solid-line, and an increase in patrols by the Kahnawàke Peacekeepers, it’s still an issue.”
Once the study has been completed, the MTQ will provide its recommendations to the MCK for evaluation.
