3 Active COVID-19 Cases in Kahnawake

There are three active cases in Kahnawake. “It is really important for people to understand and know that these occurred before the opening of Kahnawake, actually they occurred before the opening of Montreal (May 25),” Task Force Medical Advisor Dr. Annick Gauthier said. “These people are excellent community members and they tried to apply all the measures, but social distancing is a hard one to apply. Everyone loves their family and wants to be close to them. That’s why physical distancing and hand hygiene are the key to this. No one is blaming anyone. We know that this virus is very strong.”

A further clarification was issued from the Task Force. A news release from May 30th stated that it was permitted for non-locals to visit, but it should have read that ‘Family members’ who are invited guests may be on the Territory.’
