Creek Clean n’ Learn event

It is time to increase one’s knowledge of the land and water. A ‘Creek Clean n’ Learn’ event is scheduled for Sunday, October 27th, from 10am to 2pm. The Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO), in collaboration with the Waste Management department of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) saying that the cleanup will focus on the area of North Creek, starting near Slippery Elm Avenue and Red Bird Road and will continue upstream towards the first culvert with the yellow railings. KEPO will provide gloves and garbage bags for collecting trash around the creek, but participants are encouraged to bring their own boots or waders. In addition to the cleanup, KEPO will discuss the health of North Creek and its future and offer demonstrations on how to identify and remove invasive Reed Canary Grass and possibly Phragmites grass. Participants can park at the Tewatohnhi’saktha parking lot, where Waste Management will have a tent to distribute cleanup supplies.
