MCK Portfolio’s Allotted

After weeks of deliberations, Portfolios for the new Mohawk Council of Kahnawake have been allocated. Several elected officials sharing their postings on social media prior to their formal announcement at the next council meeting scheduled for Monday. Ohenton Í:rate ne Ratsisahiens Cody Diabo writing: “By virtue of my position I am ex-officio on all portfolios however my main portfolio is the External Government Relations and I will help specifically on the Health Portfolio with Arnold Boyer as the lead, I will help Stephen McComber build up and establish the Sustainable Development Portfolio and will be helping on the Indigenous Rights and Research Portfolio.” Paul Rice announcing that he is the Lead on Economic Development and on Administrative Affairs, Finance, Admin and Operations; Melanie Morrison will be the Lead on the Heritage file; Jeremiah Johnson the lead on legislation; with David Diabo as lead on the Lands file.

Meanwhile, Morrison is representing the MCK at the Assembly of First Nations Quebec-Labrador’s (AFNQL) Forum on First Nations Language Rights in Saint-Sauveur. The Forum, which wraps up today, deals with Language, healing and reconciliation; and Women’s leadership.
