Kahnawake Education Center Director of Education Robin Delaronde announcing that she has one more year left and then it will be her time to step aside. Delaronde announced on May 14th to the Combined Schools Committee that after 36 years she will be retiring at the end of the next school year, 13 months from now:
“The KEC is in such a great situation right now and with that being said, there are great people who work and support the organization and support the director. Very educated-strong individuals in various roles and particularly, leadership.”
Falen Jacobs is the Associate Director of Education at the KEC and has worked alongside Delaronde for several years:
“The Education Center is in very good hands, the leadership at our schools have been working collaboratively, the Kahnawàke Combined Schools Committee is a very strong committee. There are a lot of supports in place to support an in-coming new director. It’s a good time in Robin’s life, she is still young, she’s healthy and she’s put in a lot of dedication over the last 36 years to the system.”
The announcement gives the KEC and KCSC a year to transition to a new leader. Their search will begin next month.
