MCK Salaries on the Rise

It’s been 18 years since the salaries of the elected members of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake increased beyond the cost of living. First reported in the Eastern Door, the salaries have now gone up in the neighborhood of 9 percent. The increases are retroactive to the beginning of the year. They come after a study was conducted on comparable salaries at other councils across the country. Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer is seeing an increase from $120 196 to $131 840. While assistant Grand Chief Tonya Peron’s salary is up to $105 400 from $90 407. The other elected Chiefs will earn just shy of $99 000 an increase of about 9 percent.
