The Body of Casey Oakes Identified

The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service has identified the body of a man that was found in the St. Lawrence River on July 3^rd in the area of Ross Island, Akwesasne. From the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, the coroner’s office has provided confirmation that the individual is 30-year-old Casey Oakes, of Akwesasne, who went missing in March. No further information will be released at this time by the Police Service.

The investigation into Oakes’s death and the deaths of eight foreign nationals who were crossing the river by boat in March remains ongoing.
