KEPO Monitoring Recreation Bay Water Quality
Written by Jeremy Zafran on 19 July 2023
Water quality monitoring equipment will be installed in the Recreation Bay today by The Kahnawà:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO). KEPO personnel will be installing the equipment, which will monitor turbidity, oxygen, temperature and pH levels in the Recreation Bay area. The monitors will help KEPO evaluate the effects of excavation work on bay water quality. Data loggers will be mounted on green signposts with orange flagging tape as markers and will be secured to the shore with aircraft cable. They will be removed after one week of data collection on Wednesday, July 26th. In total, there will be four (4) one-week deployments from now until the end of October. KEPO is asking that the data loggers not be disturbed during these periods.
