The Montreal Canadiens honoured PK Subban prior to last night’s game against the Nashville Predators and the celebration had a Kahnawake component. Subban was presented with a beaded Montreal Canadiens medallion that was designed and made by Kyle Phillips of Kahnawake. Phillips says it was pretty cool to see his work modelled by one of his hockey heroes:
“Right now, I have tons of orders, so I don’t really have time to take extra orders, but when he messaged, I just had to take the order right away because I’m a big fan of PK Subban and it was just amazing to see.”
Tyler Gilbert of Kahnawake placed the order with Phillips. Gilbert also got the chance to present the medallion to Subban:
“I just knew that I would have the opportunity to run into him, it wasn’t a thousand percent guarantee that I was going to be able to present it to him. I knew somebody that was working with him and that there would be the chance that I’d have the opportunity to, so, I made sure that chance happened.”
