Freedom Convoy On The Way Friday
Written by Paul Graif on 27 January 2022
January 28th, at approximately 12:00pm, the Freedom Convoy is expected to travel on Route 132 through Kahnàwake and over the Mercier Bridge. This is the convoy that began last Sunday in British Columbia and is comprised of thousands of trucks that are making their way to Canada’s capital. With the expected traffic over the bridge, Kyle Zachary from the Kahnàwake Peacekeepers says the PKs are preparing by adding extra patrol units on shift:
“We did receive a request to escort the convoy through the territory and we will be doing that tomorrow whenever they arrive. They are scheduled to arrive at Noon, on the road, so they can arrive at anytime before or after that even, so we do have extra officers that will be on shift that day and we will escort the convoy from the 132 boundary to the Mercier Bridge.”
Zachary says that the intention is to maintain order, “We’re not looking to impede the convoy in any way, we want to get them through the territory as fast as possible so we can keep traffic and the local traffic, flowing freely.”
