The Kahnawà:ke COVID-19 Task Force says that this is the final opportunity for Kahnawa’kehró:non to get a COVID-19 vaccine at the Mass Vaccination Center, located at Mohawk Bingo on R-138. Lloyd Phillips, Commissioner of Public Safety:
“There’s a lot of human resources dedicated to the Bingo Hall, obviously nurses and paramedics are there to vaccinate but also a lot of administrative staff, so there’s human resources being stretched everywhere and we have to make a determination where we go from here.”
Based on how many people have chosen to take a vaccine at the Bingo Hall, Phillips says that as of Saturday, January 29th, residents wanting to be vaccinated will have to book their vaccine appointments through the provincial Clic-Sante website and be vaccinated in one of the surrounding community vaccination sites:
“Our original plan was to go the end of the month and then asses from there, but given the turnout that we’ve had over the past couple of weeks which is low capacity, we feel that by this Friday anybody who wants a vaccine or booster would have had the opportunity. We’re open for the remainder of the week so once again, I encourage people who want it here’s your opportunity to get it right here in the community.”
The Kateri Memorial Hospital Centre will have vaccination appointments starting in March with those being offered in a limited capacity at the hospital. The vaccination clinic at the Bingo Hall on the 138 schedule this week, including to day until 7:30pm, again tomorrow, Wednesday from 9am to 4:30pm, Thursday between 12pm (noon) and 7:30pm and again on Friday from 9am until 4:30pm.
