Kateri Memorial Hospital Center (KMHC) Executive Director Lisa Westaway has released a statement to K1037 News in response to online criticism that she faced after travelling out of country on vacation. She is now back at work after recovering from contracting COVID-19. She quarantined with the coronavirus while on a family vacation in Mexico

“Over the last two weeks I have had a lot of opportunity to consider and hear various community members, colleagues, superiors, family members and friends discussing the issue of my decision to travel over the holiday period. I have had much time to reflect about the various opinions and fully understand why many are upset with my decision. I would like to offer a sincere apology to the community. I would also like to apologize to my colleagues at the Task Force, my colleagues at KMHC and the KMHC Board of Directors for having put you in a position that has impacted your credibility.  I will continue to devote my time and energy to the cause we are all fighting together in the hopes that we can put this pandemic behind us,” she said.

When asked if she considered resigning from either the Task Force or from her job, Westaway said that after reflection this was the reason she gave a statement to K1037 News.
