COVID-19 Affects Head of KMHC

Lisa Westaway, the Executive Director of the Kateri Memorial Hospital Center (KMHC), has come down with COVID-19.
Westaway released a statement to K1037 News on Wednesday afternoon after choosing not to speak further about it.
“It was a difficult decision to come away but I made a decision for my family.  I am not just a leader in this community, I am also a mom, a daughter, a wife and a human being.  I have put these roles and mt own well being aside for the last 2 years.  I put my family first in coming to Mexico but found a way to do so with conditions so that I could continue to do my work and protect the hospital and community, keeping in mind that there are no travel restrictions at the current time.  Even our KMHC staff have travelled over the holidays. I am comfortable with the choice I made for myself, my family and in relation to my position both at KMHC and on the task force.  I am also comfortable in the knowledge that I was able to balance all of my roles during this difficult time.  I actually have COVID right now and so does my daughter.  We are in Mexico until we are recovered and I am working from my room.  I will continue to do the work that I need to do to accomplish my role to the best of my ability,” Westaway wrote.
