Pump Station Functioning Again After Raw Sewage Pumped Out in Kahnawake

The sewage lift station off War Eagle road is operating again with one pump as of 9am Monday. At around lunch time on Sunday a second pump failed. The station had been down to only one pump in recent days.
“Two pumps are down due to computer malfunction,” said Martin Morris, the General Manager Operations, Infrastructure and Maintenance. “That is under warranty by the company. In the meantime we had to deal with rising sewage so I could not get a company in in the proper amount of time so we had to pump it into the catch basin last evening.”
The Sanivac company was expected at 7 Monday morning to empty the sewage.
“We had to pump out twice last night,” Morris said. “In total approximately 2000 gallons were pumped out over. Each time was over a period of four or five minutes.”
Much of the waste went into the basin or ditch with some heading to the Seaway. (Updated at 9:30 am Monday)
