KFB’s New Ambulance On The Road Next Week

The Kahnawake Fire Brigade (KFB) took delivery of a new ambulance on Tuesday, nearly 11 months after a serious accident near the Anna Laberge Hospital on January 18th destroyed one of the two ambulances in the fleet.

“We had to bring in another ambulance on a rental from a local company at $150 a day, which cost us quite a bit of money,” Fire Chief David Scott said. “We placed an order with Crestline Coach out in Saskatoon. We’ve been dealing with them for many, many years. I think our last six ambulances have been purchased through them. They are a known quality through them and we’ve had a good relationship with them.”

The rental yellow ambulance has cost the KFB somewhere between $28 000 to $33 000. Scott says the new ambulance should be on the road by next Tuesday.

“The global supply shortage, COVID, came into play,” Scott said. “The chassis was delayed. Parts were delayed. Even the paint, the special paint we put on our vehicles, was caught up in the world supply chain for a while. It’s delivered. It’s going to be plated (license). It’s insured. It’s going to be disinfected. It will be marked. It will be registered so that it’s in the system with the government for the licensing. It should be on the road for sure next week.”
