Hunting in Tioweró:ton to resume Friday
Written by Paul Graif on 16 September 2021
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) says all hunting activities will resume in Tioweró:ton tomorrow (Friday). Hunting was halted on Tuesday following the tragic passing of a young man on the Territory. The three-day moratorium took place to honor his memory.
The MCK wishes to thank the community for respecting the brief moratorium during this time and reminds Kahnawa’kehró:non to be mindful and safe while hunting. All hunters should wear high-visibility clothing for maximum safety. For novice hunters, gun/hunting safety courses are available, and information on this will be brought forth to the community.
The MCK joins the community in offering condolences to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time.
