The Kahnawake Education Centre has released its plan for the upcoming school year. It confirms there will be a return to a five-day school week and says this school year will be split into two terms. The first-term begins in September and ends in January 2022. The second term will begin in January until June 2022. Progress reports will be issued in November. The Centre also says there will be a new statutory holiday. It will be observing the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation on Thursday, September 30, 2021. This new holiday will commemorate the tragic legacy of residential schools in Canada. The Centre is asking parents to keep an eye out for future communications on school re-openings.
