9 Active Cases of COVID-19 in Kahnawake

As of Friday morning there are nine active cases of COVID-19 in Kahnawake. However, dozens of community members remain in 14 day isolation. The good news is that many of them will begin emerging today and over the weekend according to Kahnawake Public Health at the Kateri Memorial Hospital Center (KMHC).

Most of the cases are of the highly transmissible Delta variant of the coronavirus.

The results of the latest vaccination clinics are out and good news for Kahnawa’kehró:non in terms of percentages of first vaccinations, up to July 22nd, 77% of those 12 year of age and over in the community have received a first dose according to the KMHC. As for second  doses, they continue to lag with those 18+ near 67%, those aged 16 and 17 at 55% and the 12–15-year-olds at 10.9%. Vaccination clinics will take place from 9am – 4:30pm on: Wednesday, July 28th and Thursday the 29th for Pfizer second doses and first doses if anyone is interested. Then again on Friday, July 30th for the Moderna vaccine.
