IDS Settlement Assistance on the Way for Kahnawake

The MCK Indian Day Schools (IDS) Settlement Project Coordinator has invited the Federal Indian Day School Community Support Program to Kahnawà:ke to assist and provide additional support in offering “Federal Indian Day School Community Support with a trauma-informed approach to delivering free, one-on-one help” with filling out or checking the status of IDS Claim Form(s). IDS Settlement Project Coordinator Louise Mayo:
“I’m one of the very few people in Canada that’s been hired by their community to provide this service, to provide a free supportive service to community members who are are applying for the Indian Day Schools application process. And at this time we’re at 1 year at the deadline which is July 13th, 2022, so I’ve invited the Federal Indian Day School Community Support Program to come to Kahnawà:ke to assist me in expanding the availability for community members to come in to have your Indian Day Schools process. So, it will be a 2 day event that will be held at the Legion from July 26th to the 27th and we’ll have some evening sessions available for people that work.”
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke saying that the IDS sessions will be held at the Mohawk Legion Branch 219 with appointments are available Monday, July 26th from 10am to 7pm, and Tuesday, July 27th from 9 am to 4:30 pm.
