MCK Disappointed with the Quebec Premier

The Mohawk Council of Kahnàwake has issued a statement expressing its disappointment in the Quebec Premier. This after Francois Legault said he would not consider a statutory holiday for Indigenous people in the province.

Joe Delaronde is a spokesperson for the MCK:

“Some people are working very hard behind the scenes to make a positive difference, but in this case it’s the Premier and how he delivers his message and that’s the real problem. He really has to mind his words, (you mentioned) about the denial of systemic racism also you go back to last year he made a statement about the Ak-47’s at the peaceful protest, which turned out to be, of course, ‘a crock.’ But those kind of words are very, they’re uncalled from someone in his position.”
