Lacrosse Game Acts as Medicine for Kahnawake

Approximately 25 people took part in a medicine game yesterday (Wednesday) at the Sports Complex field. It was a chance for the community to heal according to organizers and participants in the lacrosse game in Kahnawake. The day was organized by Jamie Kirby. It gave a chance for many in the community to come together for the first time in months. Former K1037 Morning Show host Brandon Bordeau was among them. “We weren’t even keeping track of the score,” Bordeau said. “It’s remarkable come to think of it. We really needed this exercise in terms of medicine game to give ourselves that healing. Because that is what it is, it’s a medicine game, it’s a healing game. It used to scare the sickness out of our tribes. I think that’s what it really came down to, getting that appreciation, that first real game that we’ve had in the community at least since the President’s Cup. It felt great.”
