Written by Jeremy Zafran on 16 June 2021
Electoral Officer Angus Montour is asking community members who want to vote in the 2021 Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) election, and are mobility disadvantaged, that they can register for the Special Poll that is being held at the Golden Age Club on Saturday, June 26th, from 10am to 12 noon. Electoral Officer Angus Montour:
“We’re sending out a notice today and we’re requesting all persons (with) mobility disadvantaged to register for this special poll.”
Special accommodations are being made, as accessibility is limited for the venue on Election Day. As the community is aware, the regular poll will take place at the Sports Complex. Montour says that there is a process to register:
“The usual process to register for special polls is writing a letter indicating the reason why, also they’d have to include their, of course their full name, their birthdate, band number, box number, telephone number and importantly, they have to sign.”
Those interested in taking part of the Special Poll should contact Electoral Officer Angus Montour at angus.montour@kahnawakeelections.com or by telephone at 514-442-9114. All requests must be received by Wednesday, June 23rd at 12 noon. The 2021 Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke Election will take place on Saturday, July 3rd, at the Kahnawà:ke Sports Complex.
