Fire Risk: High

The Kahnawà:ke Fire Brigade says that the risk of fire in both Kahnawà:ke and Tioweró:ton has been elevated to High. According to KFB Chief David Scott, forest fires are a major threat:
“No more, right now, I’m asking everyone to do your part. No more campfires in the backyard, don’t burn the pallets, don’t burn the cardboard, don’t burn your tobacco, don’t burn your grass. Just keep a watch on everything, we’re in a dangerous time right now.”
The burning of debris and brush should not take place while, effective immediately, open fire pits, bonfires, fireworks of any kind and flying lanterns are prohibited.
