K1037 Board Elections

K1037 radio is holding nominations for the Board of Directors tomorrow at our building between 10 am and Noon. Sandra Schurman is the electoral officer:
“If you want to nominate a person to be on the K1037 Board of Directors, you come in you sign a nomination form and you bring a seconder. We need a nominator and then someone to second the nomination. It’s a simple form to sign and date. We’ll need your name your band number, we eyewitness it, just a few fields to fill-in and that’s it.”
All 5 positions on the board are open. 3 will be for 2-year terms and the other 2 for 1 year. The terms will be up to a random draw following the election. In terms of who can nominate candidates, Schurman says the rules are clear:
“They have to be a member of the Kahnàwake membership law and registered on the Mohawk Registry. They must be at least 21-years-of-age, they must reside in Kahnàwake, they must not be an immediate family member of a current employee of K1037, they must not be an owner or operator of another media organization and they must be in good standing with K1037.”
The election will be held on Saturday, May 29th between 10 and Noon.
