Active COVID-19 Cases Now 12 in Kahnawake

There are now 12 active cases of COVID-19 in Kahnawake. They are part of four different clusters of the virus in the community.
“There were quite a few new cases over the weekend. And there are several others who have now recovered. So that brings us to 12,” Lisa Westaway, the Executive Director of the Kateri Memorial Hospital Center, said on Monday on the Morning D on K1037.
Westaway says that the 12 positives are doing relatively well and there are no serious illnesses reported.
Some good news as Pfizer-BioNtech steps up delivery of their vaccine to Canada to two million doses this week.
“This increase in the influx of vaccines means that we are expecting a big announcement this week about second doses for our community but for the population in general where we expect the 112 day interval to be reduced. We are waiting for that information. But that will have an impact on us as well because we have no choice at this time to follow the 112 day interval that Quebec has set. However, we expect that to decrease so it will make a difference to our second appointments,” Westaway said.
