New Positive COVID-19 Case at Kateri Memorial Hospital Center

There is a new positive case of COVID-19 in Kahnawake, this time at the Kateri Memorial Hospital Center (KMHC).

“This is an employee, not a resident,” Lisa Westaway, the Executive Director of the KMHC said Tuesday on Kahnawake 911 on Facebook. “I would like to clarify that this is not an outbreak as it is one singular case. This is also not a lockdown of the KMHC. So the Kateri Memorial Hospital is not in lockdown. We  have one case on in-patient.  The rest of the hospital is not impacted. It happens to be seven residents who are considered contacts and are in isolation.”

Those residents are being tested and monitored closely.

In total, since December, 5014 doses of the vaccine were administered in Kahnawake or to Kahnawakero:non, amounting to 74% of the population 16 years of age and older.  Meanwhile second doses of the Moderna vaccine will be administered to in-patients at the KMHC sometime next week.
