Angus L. Montour will be the Chief Electoral Officer this summer, working his fourth Mohawk Council of Kahnawake (MCK) election. Montour was acclaimed to the position after being the lone applicant.
He previously was the Electoral Officer for the 2004, 2006 and 2018 elections, as well as two by-elections in 2019.
“It certainly helps because I’m going to have all the previous documentation and all the infrastructure and everything else that we used in the past and that will be readily available. That should help very much,” Montour said.
But he says things will look a little different this year for the nominations, candidates night and the election on Saturday July 3.
“Because of COVID there’s going to be a lot more planning to do. Everything that was used before will be extra covered by protocols and precautions,” he said.
Montour named Muriel White-Rice as the Assistant Electoral Officer.
