Technically there has not been a new positive test of a community member for COVID-19 in Kahnawake in more than a month. However, six Kahnawakero:non are in isolation because of potential contact with a positive case.
“It’s not somebody from town but is somebody who does have connections in the community. Therefore, we do have contacts in the community, and several contacts,” Lisa Westaway, the Executive Director of the Kateri Memorial Hospital Center said today (Thursday) on the Morning D. “It’s eye opening. It allows us to see that there is still a risk. That we have to be careful. We are doing everything that we’re supposed to be doing; contact tracing, isolating, and staff is following up on these cases as we go. And hopefully it doesn’t go any further than this.”
