Approximately 3/4’s of Kahnawà’kehró:non adults have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Lisa Westaway, the Executive Director of the Kateri Memorial Hospital Center (KMHC) joined us on the Morning D today on K1037:

“We’ve already ordered the vaccines, they’ll be delivered next week for 2nd odeses at KMHC. KMHC is Moderna, Turtle Bay is Moderna (and they’ve) already received their second dose, we actually transported them to the Bingo Site, sot they’ve already been vaccinated. ILC was Pfizer, we’ll see how that goes over the next couple of days if we have vaccines left over how that works, but most probably they’ll be delivered as well.”

Commissioner of Public Safety Lloyd Phillips was also in studio this morning on the K1037’s The Morning D:

“On the positive side, there are a few hundred people in Kahnawà:ke who now have their 2nd doses and I’m sure they’re very happy, right and we’re going to continue working to that end goal.”

Westaway continues:

“And those who don’t, well they have their level of protection as well and waiting past the 21 or 28 days is not detrimental to anybody, it doesn’t impact the efficacy of that 1st dose.”

16- and 17-year-olds will be receiving their doses as of Wednesday of this week.
