How New Curfew Times And Masking Rules Will Affect Us

Changes to the provincial curfew on the Island of Montreal and Laval that go into effect on Sunday, April 11 at 8:00 p.m. will not affect measures currently in place in Kahnawà:ke.
As the surrounding municipalities on the South Shore remain with a 9:30 p.m. curfew, local businesses that have been permitted to be open until 9:00 p.m. can continue operating up to that time. However, community members are reminded to exercise caution when traveling outside of Kahnawà:ke during the new curfew times.
As for the importance of new masking recommendations, despite the high vaccination rate for the community, proper masking adds an additional layer of protection against the transmission of the COVID-19 virus and the variants. It’s recommended that the general public wear a medical-like mask (3-ply) rather than cloth masks even outdoors when within a 2-meter distance of other people who are not from your household; and make sure to keep a 2-meter distance from other people when out shopping for groceries.
