Kahnawake Parent Unhappy About in-Person School in Province

Written by on 18 January 2021

A Kahnawake parent who sends one of their three children to High School in the West Island of Montreal, is wondering why they are being forced to do so. Shyann White is sending her son back to 8th grade in person at Lakeside Academy this morning. “With the pandemic and rising numbers, it is terrifying,” White said. “I don’t understand the need for them to go back regardless from Grade 7 and 8, 9, 10 and 11. You see it (On-line school) worked.”

This after she says on-line school worked very well for him the last couple of weeks. And is also working for her two other children who attend Kateri and Kahnawake Survival Schools.

“When my son’s school from Lakeside Academy transitioned all the student on-line, he did great,” she said. “He attended school (On-line) starting 8:40 every day and he had different subjects and different teachers every hour with breaks in between. He finished by 3:15-3:20.”
